Default chip in the front of the tank

I was cleaning the bike when I noticed a place in the tank about the size of a cigarette and perfectly round all the way down to the metal. The bike is only 2 weeks old so you can imagine how sick I am about it.

It almost looks like somebody could have thrown a ball bearing or something to make that sort of dent and no way a rock would be perfectly round plus I would heard it if hit while I was riding.

Having a huge deductible on my insurance assures my it's coming out of my pocket no matter what. Don't know if it can be touched up to make it look right or not. Any suggestions please?

it's an impact chip... got two myself.. means your riding it.... don't lose any sleep over it.. it's just become "your" bike...

character isn't a bad thing.

rather that than a bland personalty..

if it really bothers you get some touch up paint from the dealer and a tooth pick.. do a search on touch up paint and you get all kinds of techniques.. me i don't have that kind of patience.

You got the first one out of the way...it's the worst. Consider it your riders badge...it sucks but as Last12know said that makes it yours. If its down to bare metal put a little touch up on it to keep it from rusting.

Thanks for the replies. If the bike wasn't so new or the chip so noticeable, I could probably live with it but as is, no way.

personally I recomend using the bottom of a paper match over toothpicks, just put 1 drop in which should spread to cover area fine, & let it dry, & repeat until it is at correct level, if you really have to have correct shine, you can stop just under level & use 1 to 2 applications of clear, & that should get you nearly un-noticeable, but that also depends on if your using "factory" paint, or an enamel which has clear in the paint.

Thanks, and that makes sense. It's pretty deep so I'm sure it will take several applications.
