Default Got an Airbrush for my birthday in Dec.....

Sttttiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiill need practice but im gettin there. I hope to ultimately paint vehicles.
First project was mountains. Some of you saw these.....

My next project I wanted to practice with realistic flames or some call true fire

This took 5 different color paints. only a few drops of each color. Airbrush paint goes a loooong way and if it were on a car (instead of cardboard) it would have a few coats of clear

Sorry for the cell phone pics

Just finished a new project. This is what I want to paint on my bike. Except with blue realistic / true fire. here is my project. I used cardboard since I have so much of it.

Step:
1)-paint it black

2) lay out my paper and mark, the draw flame design

3) cut out design

4) stick to project...just practicing so it doesnt need to be perfect.

....I cut off all the tips and used tape to create new ones. That helped hold it down. I also rolled tape and put it under a lot of the paper to hold most of it down.

5) Start spraying

...looks like a mess. again, just practicing

6) peal off mask.....

My goal: Flames with no outline. the only way you see them is the fire behind it

Thanks

So far I havent bought any tape yet. When I do Ill be able to rid of the jagged edges on my lines. Im just using tape and paper I already have.

I was pretty happy with my first eal flames. The second wasnt as good but the effect it had was nice. MUCH MORE PRACTICE NEEDED haha

I tried another flame pattern that I like

Another black background.....my bike is black lol

Draw em out

This is the hardest part for the method Im using. Jagged edges

I sprayed a really light blue over the flames, coulda left it black....then I went over the edges with a darker blue. If I clear coated this it would look really good (but its on cardboard again)

I would suggest going ahead and getting some tape, its very cheap. I would also try to find some metal to paint on, that’s the only way that your really going to be able to get a good real for what your doing. Try getting some stencils, with practice, you’ll be able to do a lot of neat stuff with them.

I made a stencil for the realistic fire. Just need to keep practicing. I have a few pieces of metal but ive been waiting for something good to paint. I can get my ideas with the cardboard and when Im happy ill try it on the metal. These steps are kind of like drawing with a pencil instead of a pen.

The tape, I gotta get some. Just doesnt look like it goes very far. Im not makin money on this so I cant spend a lot. Whats a good tape? I was looking at 3m and something else (yellow, 60 yards) on ebay

+1 on the stencil it is pretty cool what you can do with them! here is a few of the things i have done... for me it was setting up the airbrush to find what PSI it liked to shoot and mastering thinning my paint... from there color changes and working on lines and fine lines... then i went to circles... then started with stencil work using layering techniques... it is fun man! i am in the same boat, i air brush all my stuff i can.. not something i do for customers... YET

Thats pretty cool, I got a quick connect fitting with an air valve on it. I can adjust the air and Break my stuff down and clean easily. I put my air compressor at 50 and adjust to what looks right

I want a Harley-Davidson stencil. Id like to put that on my tool box

I might print off and cut a Willie G
