Default Autographed Gas Tank

The tank on my HD Road King Classic was recently signed with a silver Sharpie. I want to protect it. What's the best way to go about it? A clear coat of some kind? THANX.

may want to talk to a painter i have a buddy that is a tat artist he stripped his tank and drew all over it with a sharpy then we powder'd clear over it... but that was on a stripped tank... i would imagine you can paint it but not sure what kind of clear would work but any auto paint shop could tell you i am sure
