I have a 21" spoke front wheel from a night train on my super glide. It originally was chrome and the previous owner painted it black. I want to take it back chrome and was wondering the best way to go about this. I took the original gold paint off a virago front wheel some years back with aircraft stripper but not sure if its the best route. I dont think he sanded the wheel first because the paint seems to scratch pretty damn easy and where I can see the chrome looks to be in pretty good condition. Anyone have suggestions for me?

 

Try a pressure washer.

 

Lacquer thinner and lots of rags/brushes. (After the pressure washer try) If you intend to leave the tire mounted while doing this, you might give brake fluid a shot to keep from harming the rubber.
