Default Removing riveted tank badges

My son and I are rebuilding a 2001 Road King Police into a tribute bike for my brother. The fuel tank had badges on the side but they are not attached with adhesive. Rather they seem to be fastened to the tank with rivets. The badges are actually attached by screws to the bracket that is riveted to the tank. There seems to be a rubber gasket between the bracket and the tank.

Any help that you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Default Clarification

I guess I should have said I'm trying to figure out how to get the brakets off.

I don't think those rivits go through to the tank. I believe they serve more as a spacer for the emblem. The brackets should be held with two-sided tape (thats the gasket you refered to) Getting them off without damaging the paint is possible, just take your time. I use heat and a plastic scraper that I can work under the bracket to lift it slightly so I can cut the tape with a razor blade.

I'll give that a try. I assumed (you know what they say about that) the rivets went through so I haven't tried the heat/fishing line/etc. suggestions that I've seen on the forum for other bikes. I'll give it a try and see if that solves my problem.

Thanks again.

Default Badges are off!

Thanks BeyondThePaint. My son took some dental floss and got the badges off today. Goes to show you what assuming can do.
