I am NOT a professional painter, but have painted several of my own bikes and cars.
I did my 06 roadglide, and it looked great!

That being said, I recommend sanding with 400 grit wet sand paper, then using adhesive promoter "found at paint supply stores in spray cans", then priming the whole thing with a good automotive grade primer sealer.
after several coats of the primer, guide coat, & wet sand again with 400 grit.
If all looks well, then you can put on your base coat, or if not, just shoot primer to the problem spots, guide coat and sand again until smooth.
Remember, the prep work is the most important part of your paint job.

Like I said, I'm not a pro, but if I can do it, anyone with patients can!
Good luck, and post pic's when you're done!

When I did mine, I used SEM Scuff 'n Clean and it worked great. It's a thick abrasive cream, designed to work much like sandpaper but easier to hit the curves and crevices. I used a wet gray scuff pad to apply and just kept working it until I had the right profile. +1 on the adhesion promoter....pretty much standard when painting plastic. Good luck with your project.

I Want To Say I Got It Online Through Autobodytoolmart.Com

You Should Be Able To Find It At Any Decent Auto Parts Store...SEM Products Are Tops. It Was Around $13. Post Pics When Done!

You do not need to, however, it will enhance the shine and help protect the paint which will make look good for a lot longer.
Most of these auto body supply shops will put a quality paint into a spray can for you. It can be your color choice and a clear to match. It's worth the couple extra $ IMHO

I would just add, look for paints that are designed for plastic/fiberglass. Although this is a rigid plastic, you may want to inquire about putting a flex additive into the paint as well.
