Matte clear over decals

Matte clear over decals
I've got a gas tank and fender set that I'm wanting to paint matte grey and put green pin stripe decals on them. I want to keep the "matte" look and not the "shiny" look so I'm guessing that I would need to use a matte clear coat to protect the paint and decals and to keep the matte look. Does anybody have any recommendations on what brand or kind of clear coat to use? One of my big concerns is the clear coat causing damage to the decals. Thanks

I can't recommend a brand, however all factory bikes with decals come with a clear coat and have done for decades. I recently had my tank repainted with gloss paint and had the decals, along with the rest of the tank, clear coated. So doing that is a long established and tested approach! Look for a trusted gloss clear coat brand then check if they also have a matte version.
If you use Search in the centre of the blue bar above, go to 'advanced' and enter 'clearcoat' you will find plenty of threads on the subject. Hopefully one of them will give you some useful info.
