Default Painting tank options

I have a '15 low rider, and I want to get rid of the red painted lettering on the tank and go with a badge like on the wide glide. Since the lettering and pinstripes are paint, it'll still need a full paint to job get solid vivid black.

I wasn't going to disassemble the tank myself (live in a condo and have no shop or room to do it) so I got a quote of $850 to remove, disassemble, paint and reassemble the tank and install it. Seemed high, but this is NY and everything is expensive so I was considering it.

I looked it up, and I can get a brand vivid black tank from the dealer for about a grand. I figure since my tank is perfect, I could probably sell it and recoup some $. My question is, how much is involved in removing the internals of the tank to move to the new tank? I'm competent - though I have big meathook hands and am not good with delicate work in small spaces... So maybe that eliminates the possibility of doing it myself? (I do have the service manual btw)

Any thoughts/recommendations?

Thanks

I moved this to the Dyna forum since I got no responses here. Thanks.
