Denim Black
Hey fellows,
I purchased a quart of the John Deere Blitz black paint. I am going to paint a new front fender and I was told that the Blitz black paint was a real close match for the denim paint on my 2012 Streetglide. When you guys paint the denim paints do you use some type of clear coating to seal the paint? And if you do what do you recommend for this?
Thanks,
Sam

It is a popular misconception that Harley's denim paints do not use a clear coat. This is probably because the denim paints look like primer. The denim clear coat does not dry to a shine like the high gloss clear coats do. The harley paint codes you would need are below if the Blitz paint job does not turn out well:
Harley Paint Code:
Black Denim - 98609 BYM
Harley Urethane Paint Activator:
Part Number 99825-02
Harley Denim Paint Clear Coat:
Denim Clear Topcoat - 98628 CLR

Hey guys,
Been awhile getting on here. No I actually never found anybody in my area that could say whether they could paint the demin color or not. I had bought the blitz black paint in a quart but none of them ever heard of using it to match up the factory paint. They all wanted to buy the $400 plus quart of Harley paint to do my one fender. So at this point I haven't been able to move forward with the project. Can't make myself pay that much just for the paint and then whatever the painter wants for his work.
