connecting rod slop

connecting rod slop
Hello evryone,
I am rebuilding my 56 pan and today I noticed that my male connecting rod has a little slop in it. If I grab the rod at the top and rock it back and forth I see about 1/16 (maybe a little more) of motion from one side to the other. I want to wait until next winter to do the lower end. I did a complete top end this year. Do you guys think that this is excessive slop in the rod or do you think it could wait 6 months?
PS: The lower end was completely rebuilt in 92.
Thanks,
Panhd

RE: connecting rod slop
connecting rod side clearance is 0.006-0.010" anymore than that you'll have to rebuild the crankshaft. stick a feeler gauge inbetween the rod and crankshaft. don't grab them by the top and rock them back and forth, up an down (no play) from the rod downto the crankpin slide the rod on the pin, don't rock it. hope this helps.
