Default Need a little help 1954 KH (unknown Part)

Hey Guys
I am working for a guy, getting a bunch of his cars runiing, but he also has a 54 harley that I re assembled. It is just about done, but there is one part that was in one of the boxes that I can't figure out where it goes. It may not even be part of the bike but want to make sure.

Here is a pic of the bike

and the unknown part

If anyone has any idea what this is, and where it goes let me know
Thanks
Don

PS if anyone has a 50th anniversery emblem let me know, it is about the only thing missing

Thanks Scott, but your wrong. Though I appreciate your help
Figured it out a little after I posted it

Number 30 in this pic

A bike shop helped me figure it ou
CROSS CONNECTOR, gas tank part #62355-56, the book says it fits 54-early 56-KH

I am sure I will have a few other questions, as I get closer to starting it up. From a bike in a bunch of Boxes it is coming allong pretty well

Maybe the wrong area to post but hey I don't mind. Oh yea my name here is HD54KH.

None the less great looking resto and looks like a lot of correct finishes were applied.

Mine fits on about three shelves right now, gotta get it back on two wheels

I didn't think the Sportser was a official model till 1957, so I figured this was the right forum

I dug out my old HD shop manuel. It runs from 57-65 and it has the same pic posted for the fuel line cross connector for the model k's.

You are right about the 'Sportster' designation beginning in 1957 (XL), which was based on the Flathead model 1954 KH at 55 cu. in.; which in turn was derived from the model K Sport at 45 cu. in. which appeared in 1952; and so on and so fourth......
