It's a trophy.. A friend claims my coil tester killed it.. It probably has 360000 miles on it..

Added a side stand bumper. Repacked the rear wheel bearings. Trued the rear wheel. it was a ways off. Both wheels had the side play too tight. Rear was tight enough to start wearing the thrust bearing.. Both spools look to have very little miles on them and are likely not genuine.

The machined step inboard of the flange is a V-Twin special, they sell entire wheels.

I got one of those seats made in India. It did not fit the stock seat base so I modded the base to fit.. I have 2 seat bases. Heated it up with a torch and bent to fit. The front pivot bushing was loose in the base by about 0.003" and the bushing to sleeve was about 0.007". The hole in the seat base was slightly under 0.750 so using a adjustable reamer I was able to get it to 3/4 inch.. Bought a 3/4x5/8x1.25 standard sleeve busing. Bush was a nice press fit in the arbor press. For some reason HD uses an odd inner size of about 0.580. I made a 5/8 inner sleeve.. Got the clearance down to 0.001.

Hey Max,
I also bought one of the India seats and the front bolt slot is the wrong angle.
I have thought about adding a wedge to make it work.
Are you saying that you heated and bent the T when you say "base"?
Not a bad seat for $112 just wish I didn't have to mod something to make it work.

I looked doing the wedge, probably a piece of 12 gauge steel bent like a V. Assembly would have been a PITA. The front pivot was still in the wrong location as the front of the seat would be too high. I was going to make a new T out of steel cold rolled but since I have 2 Ts I figured to modify one..

The front pivot would have had to been bent up.. Then the zerk might hit the frame.. Also the mod would be visible. I know it's sacrilege to mod old stock parts but I had 2 and they are still pretty much available..

Probably a pretty good choice. I have been scratching my head on this for a couple of months but since I have not needed the seat it has taken a back seat. (see what I did there).
Since I have a repop T and the pin retaining spring does not fit, I was planing on grinding that spot to get the spring to fit and I would have to repaint at that point anyway.
Will now probably take your route.

Thats the problem with the repop seat T's. I had an issue with one once where the spring that retains the pin doesn't fit around the lugs correctly and then the repop seat doesn't fit either so both are garbage and not worthy of being on these bikes. Some repop parts are great, most are so-so. Sometimes reproduction is the only option but in the case of a seat I would just buy the right stuff because it can be had, get it recovered and move on.
