There are no other holes and my base is the reverse image of his diagram in the instructions. I sent him an email with pictures. I may pull the timer and reposition the points cam and see if I can get the timer in the correct position between that and the slide adjustment on the cable peg. Im going to look at my 46 timer and compare because his listing splits at 47 down and 48 up, maybe my timer is a 47 style.

Ed responded and said I have a knuckle timer and need to modify it (like I already had) and reposition the shaft to line it up. I looked up timers in Palmers book and it says 47-48 only use the combination of the early points setup but switched to the later sliding timer pin vs the strap my 46 down has. So the timer is correct for my 48.

Default Knowledge

I started a 76' Shovelhead rebuild last month and just bought a 63' FLH to ride and then rebuild after I get the Shovel running. I have learned a lot from this thread and all the great replies. I think I will now make less mistakes. Although still lots to learn.

Powered up for the first time in decades. Fluids, one power wire from the seat post junction block to the coil and timer wires and its show time.

It's alive!

3 kicks and it started which I wasn't expecting, I figured it would near kill me to get it going. What a long journey but its nearing the end, I need to finish off a few details then I'll go for a ride this coming week. Rain tomorrow and I've had my fill for the day.

Twinkie in the background is for John.
