Paul I do not have one on my 49 EL.

Looks like some nice information from Eric (Speeding Big Twin) on the conversion.

And for the price I'll take two please.

Great couple of posts on the filter install and then service bulletin. It looks a bit precarious hanging off the tank, though a cleaner installation. They must of had issues cracking tanks with it hanging in the breeze like that. All good stuff, carry on.

Thanks Eric,

Yes apparently the tanks were cracking around the fitting. Not sure if that will be an issue with the life this bike will lead being put out to pasture so to speak. Sure would suck to have to take the tank out though. I could end up chickening out and just eliminate the filter.

Hit another hurdle. New lifters are giving me the heebee geebee's. Made in Japan, I assumed they would be okay but they dont feel good in my hand and the exposed rollers on one lifter tells me the quality control is non-existent.

A friend of mine who's in the car resto biz like me said we live in a mediocre world and he's right. Finding something exceptional is hard these days which is very disappointing.

No official head pipe clamp location for 48 so I'll go with the 47 setup where the clamp is below the sidecar loop.

Original muffler clamp

Repop pipe clamp but oem hardware

Original pipe clamps in correct orientation

The oil line pretty much wraps around the pipe without touching it. Not a great setup unless you ride at the north pole.

Taking shape! Very happy with the color choice.
