1948 EL basket case resto

I’m curious about the DC on the cylinder so I could add it to my file if I haven’t already got an example of it. Thanks. For 61ci Pan cylinders also notice only these top two fins are relieved. If it was a 74ci cylinder the top three fins would be relieved.
Re the trans case, 3 3 at first may have indicated March 53 casting but it remained for some time although I cannot explain why. After 3 3 the next DC I’m aware of on a BT trans case is 1 58.
Even though there’s a vent nipple in that case it may not be 55-earlier. The vent boss doesn’t look recessed but instead it appears flat which I think may suggest the case is 56-later but with a vent nipple installed.
Has the case been machined for reverse gear?
At front centre, has the top edge been relieved? Maybe to clear the back of a seat post tube?
Re the starter cover, I’m not sure. Letter looks like J but what’s the number? Characters look unspaced as opposed to spaced?
I can’t see a vent nipple but has the boss been machined?
I can’t see casting number 33-352 but it may be present (indented)? Covers as late as September 47 usually had it indented only. But as early as October 47 that casting number normally was not only indented but also raised and on a plate which sat over the indented number.
Trans lid was cast in 1948 but why it has the letter M remains a mystery to me at this stage. Notice casting number 33-35 is raised and on a plate as per Dave’s lid. August 47 seems to have been a changeover month because some lids cast that month had 33-35 indented while others had it raised and on a plate. As you can see, Dave’s lid has the letter I which should indicate September. But if J, K and L were used for Oct, Nov and Dec respectively then why was M required? Perhaps more than one casting company was involved and they had different opinions about using the letter I which was sometimes skipped due to confusion with the number 1.

If this helps, couple pics of my 49 EL tranny
...and a close up on the bottom
Comparing your case to mine, the top edge that faces the seat post on mine is straight/flat and yours appears to have been cast (or sanded down) with a slight bevel?
