1948 EL basket case resto

Found an original front tip that hasn't been run over by a bull dozer, I'll send it out for chrome Monday. The first give away is the repops have studs rather than screws holding them on. This is a pretty good repop but against an original the difference is obvious in the wings. Fits great too. My understanding is this tip was used during most of 1948 but not on early 48s, they used the knuckle head eagle tip then 49 it changed again.

Same here, they spent the money for the tooling why not make it the same. I had priced dies in the past to reproduce a car part and there's a market for it. Small but worth the effort and it would be appreciated. $10K to make the dies, these dies would be more because there's a left and right and of course Covid pricing would be in effect etc etc. If I spent the money to make emblems you couldn't tell apart from OEM Im not sure there's enough buyers out there that care enough to get the right looking part to make it worth while.

Even at $500 a pair, you'd have to sell 40 of them just to cover the dies. Then material, labor, other overhead and a little in your pocket. Are there that many perfectionists or AMCA judged bikes? The 'bobber with a cool emblem' guys don't care that much.
You did a great job on the emblem, all hammer and dolly work?

Other emblem arrived, I'll hammer and dolly it before sending it out for chroming. Both say Fox Company in different locations. They went from stamping their name in them to engraving the name later on.
Back to working on the bike as well, aside from tires I think I have everything I need to finish it.
