Agreed but the time line on the bolts is 6 years after the sidecar was made. Assuming of course the bolt date information is correct. I haven't read enough to know if they came with a spare wheel in 39.

I answered my own question about the CP 1035 bolts on the spare tire carrier. Looking in Palmers book I see the tail light and fender light are options and no mention of a spare tire so mine must've been added later in time. I like the cleaner look without it so I'll stash that stuff away, I can always add it later if I want.
For 1939 Models: Deluxe Group for Sport Sidecars includes combination windshield and cover, spare tire carrier, spare wheel and tire, sidecar lamp and wiring, chrome tail lamp on sidecar fender, 4-ply tires and stainless top fender trim.

I was wondering if one did get a flat on the side car how would you jack it up? There must be a factory jack you would keep in the trunk? I still have the duo-glide factory jack that goes into the right side frame tube. Would something like that be used for the side car? That said, I would be calling a tow truck if I ever got a flat.

Thanks, I was reading that they call it the sport package (the photo I posted) which translates to essentially none of the options, not even fender trim. I like the look without the tire on top so for now I'll go without that.

Guy by the name of Al Fernandez taught me and guided me over the years. He passed a the age of 96 several years back. When he was still around tho I asked Al what they would do if a bike got a flat. He told me they would just get a log, two guys lift the end with the flat tire and the rest the frame on the log. Figure it would probably be the same for a hack.
He had some great stories about the early Sturgis rallies when the event was just a hundred or so families attending a weekend get together for the hill climbs, races and riding thru the Black Hills of South Dakota.
Pic of Al (far left) when he was part of The HD racing team.

Mocked up the engine to verify crank endplay and compression ratio. My heads are at the machine shop but I had one spare in a bin I could use to get the chamber volume I needed. Measured dome volume, compression height, gasket thickness etc. Just wanted a rough idea where Im at before I button it up for good. 7.4:1 is where I'm at which is an ankle-friendly ratio.
I didn't paint the inside of the engine, I'm not that sloppy, the PO did it. Nice to see the correct date codes inside the engine.
