with out the reason
The reason for eliminating it was apparently due to over-oiling so the replacement outer cover is an unmachined version so the rotor wont fit but looks the same on the outside and the plate has no oil hole. Im going to run the rotor with correct plate and not worry about it. Not sure how they concluded they were supplying too much oil, consumption maybe?

How'd you make out on gas tanks and badges?

Aluminum lifter blocks?

What's the date code on the rims?

Nice score. That is gonna be a peach of a ride!

...oh and in one of your threads you mentioned that if a new ride came along, one of the existing would go. So..........which one is it gonna be?

No badges but correct year tanks and a front fender - I think the front fender fits more of a range and than the rear fender.

Aluminum blocks with correct lifters and pushrods with the tappets up a the rocker arms. I may replace the pushrods so its solid based on what John says. The blocks have never been polished either. I have rockers for it that have both the replaceable cups and the later ones that had the oilers. I think Im going to run the later ones.

Pitting on the rims inside has made any identifying stamps a thing of the past. Definitely not repop though, also has the correct hubs with nice bearing races.

Not sure which one but it comes down to the Honda or the 66. I need a daily bike so the TWINKIE stays.

The rocker covers are chromed steel, some minor surface rust inside so I know they aren't magnetic stainless.

Pads on the rocker clutch are so-so repops. Ive seen better ones that are close to original but not sure where to get them.

Very late 48 optional oil filter that screws directly onto the oil tank. Ill probably run it.

Repop inner. Not sure how much luck Ill have finding the real deal.

1948 jugs didn't have dates on them, the one is a 51 jug which you can see the raised lettering on left side of the right jug. But its cosmetically correct without the fins over the oil drain hump.

I dont know if the chain guard is OEM or not but the shifter lid and kicker cover are 1948
