The rivets that hold the sheet metal to the brace are .450"

Old Dude has the rivets from the strut to the frame mount plate. Also a good match, I only needed one for my 45 a bunch of years ago. I saw him in Oley and he hooked me up, a couple bucks and I was ready to start hitting it with a hammer!!!!

Having the frame sorted out is a big hurdle out of the way. I can start putting pieces back on it soon!

The welds that were smoothed over have been re-welded, other battle scars have been fixed and the die numbers are now visible again.

Doesn't look much different but this is the second coat after the bodywork. Any "bodywork" that was needed is sandwiched between the layers of sealer rather than being on bare metal. It's a technique they use on cars as well. The frame had its fair share of scrapes and dents over the years. They'll address any other small imperfections that happened over the years then black paint presumably tomorrow.

Yes, from what I've learned, epoxy primer sticks to metal better than body filler, and prevents moisture from rusting the metal too. Better living thru chemistry. Your frame looks great, and I suppose it will be painted black next?.

Yes, we know so much more now and the materials are better. It'll go black after some minor follow up divots are filled. Looking forward to having it on the bench for re-assembly but that means I need to address the engine top end and sort out the gearbox.

Glad the lower seat post welds are hidden so well, it looks like they hired Stevie Wonder to weld it.

Keeping things moving forward, had the tanks chemically stripped at a friends shop. Looks like the tanks had never been sanded down to the bare metal since new, no scratch marks on the steel. I knew the left tank had that braze blob. I'll clean that up and it'll be gone once there's paint on it.
