Both bikes went to a good home, a motorcycle collector who has a diverse collection and I was looking to change things up. I still have a twinkie, a shovel and the 48 so I'm not without a cool Harley. A 47 Chief would be a nice addition.
Ah you got a couple of the best! (but nobody cares about your twinkie, lol) Good luck finding a Gamma.

That frame is in very good condition overall. Nice to see you back on the 48 project.

Paul, thanks for posting photos of the frame ID. Apart from 8 on the front of the steering head the only other number I’ve seen there is 5 on a Feb 53 frame. I imagine both may have been done by an inspector.

As for die number 10 on the left clip, I agree it’s good for 48 and I’ve seen it on another 48 frame. But you could check the top of the seat post forging for a repair number.

Just out of curiosity, is anything stamped on the mount where the rear brake pedal bracket attaches? And is there anything stamped on the left side where the clutch lever bracket goes?

Thanks as always Eric. I didn't know to look for those other numbers, I'll check this morning and post what I find.

The only other stamp I can see is this big O on the underside of the brake pedal support.

Thanks Paul. I don’t know what the O indicates. Some frames had a character stamped on the front mounts I mentioned. Sometimes a letter, sometimes a number and sometimes a symbol of one type or another. My best guess is that they were applied by an inspector.

Thanks, I'll look again more thoroughly when I have the frame back. I'm having some of the smoothed over welds corrected.

Welds fixed up that were smoothed over probably before I was born. Now I can prep the frame and get it ready for paint.

Eric, the one end has what looks like a symbol stamped in the end. No idea what it is.
