Should be 65FLHXXXX (whatever the numbers are). The H means high compression and there should be an H stamped on the top rear of the cases between the rear engine mount bolts. Harley might be able to tell you but some clues would be no neutral light on the console.

no neutral light on the console, from L to R: Gen, Hi Beam, Oil. There is a H stamped on top rear of right case, can't get to left side at this moment.

FYI from the factory, the center light is supposed to be the neutral light indicator. Should be 2 wires running off this. One goes to the junction box located behind the coil; the other goes to the panel located inscide the nacelle.

The light in the center of the console is blue hence the reason I said Hi Beam. Guess I don't know if that is accurate or not.

Any thoughts on troubleshooting the no power issue? I would assume pulling the console and testing for voltage at the ignition switch is the first step. If I researched correctly there is a 30a circuit breaker just off the battery that I can't see right now, will have to take battery out and maybe what appears to be the voltage regulator. I understand the breaker should reset itself however, I have to assume that if it is bad it may not do that. Anyway any thoughts on starting the troubleshooting would be great.

Make sure the battery is putting out 12V with a meter and then you can check the power in and out terminals of the breaker for 12V to prove that part is good. Make sure the ground is good on the frame under the seat near the right upper shock mount. Then pop the console off and test for battery power to any of the the switch terminals without moving the switch. Let us know what you find.

you have a later dash for it to be blue

Hey john why is that? My 65 is a late production number and the center button is not red (actually looks purple to me, maybe it was blue and faded over time).

Not saying it is correct but my low # '65 neutral indicator is blue (center button).

As suggested make sure you have a good battery. Make sure you have a good ground wire and it is tight (just goes from the negative post to spot right on top of the frame)






Realy and circuit breaker were a retro fit for the 65 Pan. Know some who want to be "perfectly correct" and do not add them because suddenly it is not "original" anymore. Screw that idea if you are going to ride it on a regular basis. The relay does improve the starting system and the breaker helps ensure you do not end up with the wires on fire due to a short in the system.

My circuit breaker is mounted where you see it in the pics. Others have a similar type that runs off the +-side of the battery. If you have the latter it will be very visible. If not look under the battery tray to see if it is mounted there. And from looking at your earlier pics it appears you do have a stock type voltage regulator and relay.

Gut feel is that when you get a "no nothing" when you turn on the ignition switch it is generally a dead battery or a loose connection wire. Easy place to start anyway. Was it running when you bought it? Looking at the pics there was no battery installed on the bike.

the 65 in the shop is an original owner from dad to son and its blue and its a low number bike that has the 65 gen not the 65A generator with the reverse wiring
