I support the CVO PA. Afterall, the CVO line is about a premium offering. So if they don't blow it completely with the price it'll do okay.
The Pan America is a pretty good seller when you don't comapre it to the Touring and Softail Harleys... You already see more PAs than Tigers and Multi-Stradas out and I get reports from people that do some real adv trips and they say it's BMW GSs of all generations and Pan Americas are the #2 bike they see at rallys and destinations. They've had a rough start with this first Gen but it's getting sorted and Gen 2 oughta be spectacular.

Just my opinion. This CVO option and dropping the standard is smart. Who walks in the HD dealers? Harley people that are used to relatively high prices. Their aging base has money, and a lot of them bought the PA, just for fun. IMO, they still need the PA975 to attract more traditional non-HD buyers. Hope it comes, cause I want one.
PS: I have never been a HD customer in 25+ yrs on bikes, but the PA1250 got me, and I absolutely love it and will keep it and the 975 to do different things. BUT the 975 has to be weight competitive (475).

Their 900 Rally Pro (offroad-oriented) is 503 pounds.
Both of those are listed as "wet weight", so a PA975 at 475 "dry weight" seems like an approachable target.

Yeah, and why I said 475. My ktm 790 r was 450 +/-, and the benchmark in the category. Although the latest version (890) is pushing 460-470 now.
HD 975 just needs to be there and not way off, and why I think they scrapped the initial idea of just putting the 975 in the current frame, my guess.
If they are really listening to ADV enthusiasts and want their sales (not just HD agers with money), it has to be 475 +/-.
I am an adv enthusiast, not a HD buyer. But man did they knock the 1250 out of the park. gives me hope. screw the bitchers about the early e-gremlins.
If the HD marketing guys read these things, the 1250PA got me in the dealership for the first time in my 25-30yr bike life and now a want a Street Glide too, or maybe it's just me getting old, haha..........
