Default And the verdict was…

Was there a final verdict on the SW-Motech pro ring and A-1 risers? I’ve got one on order. Wondering if I will be disappointed or pleasantly surprised if it fits with my A-1.

I cancelled my order for the pro ring and went with the HD tank bag. The only pro bag I would have wanted is the micro bag, I think anything larger would start to block the screen.

The pro rings and bags have strong magnets in them for easy attachment/alignment. They warn you not store phones or credit cards in the bag except in the zipper pocket on the underside of the lid. The micro bag lid pocket would barely fit my phone. A bag I can’t quickly toss my phone or wallet in was a dealbreaker.

I didn’t notice under the photo caption earlier they won’t work with A-1 risers but I can confirm for a second time now. Smallest bag can’t get far enough forward.

I’ve recently fitted the Givi quick release setup, the tank ring for the Pan America is the BF65 and strangely the required flange is supplied with the bag when you purchase it although the flange does appear to be universal as I initially purchased the XS307 15l Tank Bag and although it’s adjustable for me it had to be on its furthest forward setting and it still obscured the bottom portions on the instrument display, I’ve subsequently purchased the EA144 5l Tank Bag and although obviously smaller it will stash a pair of gloves, breathalyser pack and be a convenient place for toll tickets and credit card to pay tolls with. The XS307 cost Ł76 from XLMOTO delivered to the UK, the BF65 cost Ł21.39 and the EA144 cost Ł48.15 delivered, if I’d ordered the BF65 and the EA144 together I would have saved the Ł6.99 shipping charge I paid on the BF65 which actually retailed at Ł14.40. Why I say that the flange appears to be universal is that the EA144 fitted onto the flange for the XS307! The tank ring kit contains in the case of the Pan America a horseshoe shaped metal plate with the holes drilled in the correct location to fit the filler surrounding and 4 replacement bolts of the correct length and thread type with associated washers.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but did anyone ever find a quick release tank bag that works with the A1 risers?

Default SW-Motech Daypack with Pro Ring: my experience.

I have this:
https://sw-motech.com/en/bike/HARLEY...2572182307.htm

It is OK to see the complete PaS LDC-screen, next bigger size I had for a day was not that good.

- It is not rain proof, you need the included raincover (If you are stuck in traffic AND heavy rain)
+ snaps is secure and fast with the pro ring
+ molle system on top, good for GoPro etc.
+ superfast to detach
+ I added permanently shoulder-straps, so I use it now daily as a man's utensil bag. (doubles usability!!!)
+ it is not obstructing the handlebar with my risers.

I used it for a 1w Slowakia tour and a 2 weeks Spain offroad trip. It can hold with it's 8L a 2L water bladder, has outlet ports for the tube, has 4 latches inside to hold all my USB gear, mulitools, passports, cards etc.

After 1y I would say: It works well and is sturdy, but it disturbs a bit the aesthetics of the flat line from cockpit to the seat.

You can extend the size with a zipper to 12L, but it obstructs the view. So I keep it inside the rear compartments if space allows.

The real good this is the fast detachment and attachment and the semihard shell. Size is really OK for your handy items, even with the water bladder.

my 2 Cents.

Question: which risers do you have? Are they simply 2" up or are they also 1" back like the A1's?

I purchased the SW-Motech Micro Tank Bag (below) but have not yet purchased the mounting ring. With my A1 risers and 'dry' fitting this tank bag, I am not confident the bars will clear the bag and not knock the bag off when turning. I am hoping someone can comment before I spend more money on the tank ring vs just cutting my losses and selling the micro tank bag.

I have the SW Motech Risers, but not recommended, bcs the steering damper is hitting the missing space at hard right turn. Better go for something that keeps the space the steering damper needs, have an eye on this. The Motech riser is basically a plate you add at the bottom, which moves the apex of the thin part up, too far and the thicker part of the original riser is then touching the steering damper at full lock.

Ah ok, I could see how these would be an issue with the steering damper. I also see how these work with the tank bag when the A1's do not. Thanks for the info!
