Default What bike did you come from?

Curious what bike you had before the Pan America, and what the pros/cons and differences are....any regrets?

I ask because I love my RG for touring, and 2up, its "performance" based but only as much as an 800lb bagger can be. Better suspension, brakes, and mid controls, etc. But I know a stock Pan Am would still kill it.
I am a bit nervous about long trips/days of highway riding, 2 up, etc.

I have a 2019 Ultra Ltd. It's great on the hwy and with the cam install it has a lot of low/mid range torque. I'm getting a Pan America because I do a lot of 1 up riding and I need a lighter bike to get around on.
Also I see a lot of roads I'd like to go down, but can't do it on the Ultra. When I go out solo, it's usually "that road looks interesting".

Came from a Road King, great bike and I liked it a lot. Did many a mile 2-up.

Pan Am is a different animal, WAY more power and response. I did a 4K+ trip in June without issue, well other than the seat lol

I wouldn't have the Pan Am if my wife hadn't bought a Freewheeler. It's not a 2-up machine for us larger americans

Could you 2-up on a Pan Am? Sure but you could also tour on a Sportster...

Had a GS/A years ago, and a KLR not as many years ago. Came up on dirt bikes. Had an itch that needed scratching, so I got back on a big ADV bike. Don't know that it'll ever replace my Road Glide, but I sure do like the thing.

If I were doing a solo coast-to-coast ride, I'd take the PA. If my wife was coming with me, I'd take the Road Glide.

My last bike (which I am keeping) is a 2018 Softail Fat Bob 114 Stage 2. It's been tweaked and tuned over the last three years and is a proper hooligan bike. I'm keeping it for my "traditional Harley" fix....

I traded my '20 Fat Bob, was getting a little bored with it to be honest. I still have a KLR 650 and Kawi Z900, but they are getting very jealous as I haven't even sat on them since I got my PAS...

Traded my 08 fxdb with 10k in upgrades for the Pan America Special. Not a single regret. As far as speed and handling & rider comfort. The Pan Am is untouchable compared to my Old Dyna. I though that bike was like riding a jet plane, but the Pan America is literally like riding an enraged bat outta hell in every gear.

First bike was a Switchback, still have it. Rode two up with my wife on the PA this weekend and we both really liked it. The PA is in every way better, other than the sound and the rumble. I do miss that sometimes but I don't miss the earplugs it required. Plus I'm much more stealthy now!
