"the left hand mounting point of my steering damper is rusting" Mine too. The design of that is makes it to hold water. The only fix is going to be covering it up somehow. Fortunately, not seeing any noticeable rust anywhere else.
Are u saying the black painted L plate ( few inches below the actual damper ) with the two bolts is rusting ?
No. It's the actual steering damper itself - see the pic below.
It's annoying as the damper is made by Ohlins - and they should make better quality stuff than that!
Oh wow.
I appreciate the picture and the heads-up.
After reading this I sprayed some Harley Aerosol Lube on these components hoping it protects the metal.
They are part of the same company though (LIND), so that is helpful, thank you 😁👍
Have you seen that Sykes H-D is Sussex are having a Pan America day this Saturday?
I have - and I may head down there. But, Guildford HD also have their Birthday bash with bands, hog roast, stalls and stuff. If I am clever and get up early, I may fit both in.

I’m in London anyway so planning to go to Sykes, I may catch you there 😁👍

Mine is the same, been meaning to brush it and spray it again with metal protector. I hope its just surface rust. Some capless threads on the handlebar are rusted to **** as well
