What did you do to your Pan America today?

Yeah the back thing is crazy, I blew the bottom 2 and had surgery 30 years ago. Agree exercise and weight control is key. I've said before, "I can do anything I want to do, I just have to do some things differently." No doubt I will get the seating position on the PA as I need it to be. The risers seem to be a good start. My wife tripped backwards a couple of years ago, fell on her rear and ruptured a disc bad. She had surgery and 6 months later ran a marathon. She too gets an occasional case of sciatica.

I just prepped the bike for the rally I am going to tomorrow. Checked fluids and all is good. Checked the chain deflection on the centre stand and it was out of spec. No surprise really with a brand new chain that will obviously stretch, but I am surprised HD is happy for customers to leave it to the 1K service to do. My bike currently has about 340 miles on it and the chain definitely needed adjusted.
It's very easy to do on the centre stand. You need a 36mm and a 13mm socket. The 36mm is for the right hand side axle nut and the 13mm is for the adjusters.
I also ordered one of these chain tensioning tools to make the job simpler and 100% repeatable in future:

Edited to say, that the more I look at that image, the more I disagree with it being a useful too to measure chain deflection. You need to push the chain down and then pull it up to measure total deflection. I put a steel rule up against the underside of the swing arm with it's end in the little "circle" (you'll see what I mean if you look), and then measured the +/- deflection. I don't see how you can do it with the HD tool with the bottom of the chain hooked over the part that looks like a beer opener.
The measurements are also off. I make it 55mm and 63mm with my micrometer, which is fairly close to HD's 50-60mm, but would still give you a slightly sloppy chain at the 63mm mark. Probably no big deal, but it's always nice to be accurate. The spec for measuring the chain on the jiffy stand is 46-56mm, so again it's not really useful.
