Got my Pan America today

I noticed the BMW in that first picture you posted. At first I thought you had ridden the PanAm and parked beside the BMW. I think that's a good move by Harley to get their dealer people riding the BMW so they will be able to talk to the BMW riders who come in to look at the PanAm. Also they will be able to talk more informatively to non-BMW riders who are considering buying the BMW or PanAm. Kudos to Harley for that insight.

I just noticed you said they had other bikes besides the BMW for the dealer folks to ride and compare. Was the Honda Africa Twin one of them? If it was, was the model a DCT or manual clutch? Or did you notice?

Posted to the Pan America Facebook Group 13-Mar was a claim that the Pan America has started production in York, PA at a batch rate of 60 units at a time on the Sportster Line. I hope it doesn't take until July to get them out. The posting credited a factory 'insider' who claimed the purpose of this production run was to stock dealerships for an upcoming 'launch date.'
This sounds like the similar production process in the car/truck business where several hundred units are built in batches over several days and then examined to verified they meet all specifications and build quality objectives. After many reviews the units receive "okay to sell" and then the shipping trucks start to roll. Typically it is about 2 months between batch build start and delivery; right on time for May availability like the H-D website states.

60 per batch. There was no explanation of how many batches. In the auto plant they will batch 10 to 20 several times a day with all colors and option content. I am not sure Harley follows the same process but it is possible.

I hope they start cranking out more of them.
There is a lot of excitement for the PA. The thread on the ADV Forum is over 100 pages long, and the majority of the ADV riders are very excited to see it.
