RE: Where to ride in Seattle area...
Their are a TON of roads to ride, so many that I cannot begin to list them all, any of the passes (less I-90) are great rides for the mountian views, I-20 over to Winthrop is one of my faves, but while your in the area take Hwy 9 north to Park road and head west, and you'll end up at a popular stop called Scooter Stuff, then head south West on Camp road back towards I-5. I-2 over to Leavanworth is a great ride as well. Some of the coastal (puget sound)highways are great as well, 101- 3- 106 in the south sound region is one of them. Another great ride is the back side of Mt St. Helens through Morton,Randal up Windy Ridge to the view point, back down and resume south and head to Cougar, its Awsome! Another local ride would be to Snoqualmie falls/hwy-203/hwy-202 and surrounding area.
I Highly recomend you find a copy of Destination Highways Washington http://washington.destinationhighways.com/ it has some of the best rides in it.
Its a start, but certianly not all of the possibilitys!
EDIT----- As far as rain gear, don't skimp, frogTogs wont last, we have First gear Kilimanjero, it works great, but I'll admit that I dont care for the jacket much as I feel like an armidillo when wearing it, but I love the pants without all the pads. I also have some slip over stuff from MotoBoss I beleve, they do the job well. Harley also makes an awsome 3/4 packable that my fiance uses.

Hey EZGLIDE, thanks for the info! Some excellent sounding rides, can't wait to do some of them! I did end up picking up some of the HD rain gear, it was on closeout over here in Tri-Cities, they said they just don't sell well over here, got a $170 set of gear for $100 ! Pretty happy with that! Once I'm set up over there we can meet up and head out for one of these rides, thanks again...!

RE: Where to ride in Seattle area...
We went on a beautiful ride up in Washington last month. We went over to the coast going through Olympia, Washington (hwy 12 I think). We camped out on the beach at Kalaloch. We then drove up HWY 101 and then camped out at Sol Duc Hotsprings. We then followed 101 around and went down to Bremerton and took a wonderful ferry ride to Seattle and went to a Mariners game. It was a very nice ride!

Speaking of ferry rides, If ya ever get a chance take the ferry from annacotis up to the San Juan Islands, then head to Mt. Constitution, The place is absolutly unbelevable!!! On a clear day you can see Vaccouver Island as well as much of Washington. Heres a link to some pic's a friend took on a ride there :
