For Those of You In or Near Oceanside, CA
A group of about 20 American Legion Riders from the IE were on a ride on Saturday, May 11 to honor an active duty Marine (ALR member) and send him off on his upcoming deployment to Afghanistan. They stopped in downtown and walked into a restaurant called Davina's Cabo Grill located at 212 N. Tremont Street. The group was turned out because they were wearing their American Legion Patches on their vests and were told that they would have to take them off. Apparently, they do not serve veterans nor active duty members who are wearing American Legion logos, especially in numbers.
A complaint letter sent to the general manager was responded to and stated, "Unfortunately due to the location and nature of our business, it has become policy to require that any and all organizations that wear representation on jackets and vests to remove them. Whether they are gangs, bikers, locals, non-locals, out having fun, weekenders, military etc.…"
So, basically, the restaurant has grouped gangs, bikers, veterans and military in the same category. I would assume that Harley shirts, jackets and vests are also not allowed in their fine establishment.
At any rate, I am posting this here to recommend to my fellow riders that there are probably a lot of other and better establishments in the City of Oceanside, CA to spend your hard earned money at, especially if you are part of any of those previously mentioned groups.
