Am riding from Wenatchee WA to Reno in mid September. First time to Reno on the bike. Is it better to ride (in September) through Bend and northeastern California or take the longer route to Boise then Winnemucca?

Thanks!
My opinion: take the first route, Winnemucca to Reno is like what a good impression of Hell must be like!
Yes, I wondered about that... I'm thinking mid-September will still be good riding weather through northeastern California. Just wondering about the road
The roads aint bad, in fact they're pretty nice... now if you want to go in a straight line forever and a day, by my guest, Winnemucca to Reno not a fun time but it might not be as hot in September, but I'm NEVER riding I-80 through there again!
The ride through Bend to Reno is awesome. I did it once in July... shouldn't be cold or anything in September. Stop at Crater Lake and go see the Lava Flows near Bend (if you haven't already).
You know Street Vibrations is in Reno in Sept... right?
I've done that ride a few times..My buddy Tim lives in Desert Aire,so we start from there..south to Hermiston then John Day and spend the night in Burns. From Burns we go to 395 south to Reno. Coming back we take I-80 to Winnamucca ,then 95 north to 140 and end up in Burns again. There are lots of good roads between John Day,north to Hermiston so you can vary your route. You can't go wrong ..all the roads are lots of fun..
Ive done all the routes and like 97 through bend the best, unless you get stuck behind a lot of trucks, but on a bike you can pass them pretty easily. If I were trying to get there to enjoy Street Vibes (I am guessing that why your going in Sept) then go that route cutting over to 139 to Susanville and down 395. Then a nice ride back, but is a little longer would be 95 up to Caldwell and then 84 up to Hermiston and so on
