Eastern Washington to Reno?

Eastern Washington to Reno?
Am riding from home in Wenatchee to Reno in mid September. First time to
Reno on the bike. I know some of the roads but suspect there are others familiar with the route. Is it better to ride through Bend and northeastern California or take the route to Boise then Winnemucca?
