Default SoCal road trip

Now that winter break is here (school break), I am going to take an overnight trip (at least one). I live in the inland empire (San Bernardino to be precise) and I thought of going to Solvang and the Santa Maria area. Since we are having a storm come through this weekend, some of the roads I was going to take might not be so good to take. Ice on a mountain road is death wating to happen. Anyway, I was planning to take hwy 138 from Victorville to the 5 then Cuddy Valley road to the 166 to the 33. Then it's the 150 to the 192 finally the 154 into Solvang. I have a feeling that Cuddy Valley and the 33 will not be good to take cause of snow and ice especially in the shady spots. My alternative is hwy 14 to the 126 through Filmore to the 150. I am probably going to go on Weds and Thurs.

Any thoughts from those that have driven around here before on some alternative roads to get here that don't involve riding the crazy interstates?
Also any thoughts on what Foxen Cyn road is like and any others that might be fun to ride on?

Thanks

You'd be better off taking the 14 to the 5 to the 126 then to the 150. There will be alot of water on Cuddy Valley road.

or

138 to the 5 north to the 166 to the 33 south to the 166 west, to the 101 south.
