Your route is one of my favorite rides. Done it quite a few times, in fact just did it two weeks ago. I've got a little detour that takes you around some of the little desert towns like Hemet and Romo. The detour is on Ramona Expressway and eliminates a lot of stop lights. If the timing and weather work out I might have to see if I can join you on the 21st. I live in HB as well. Steve

I hear parts of Ortega were washed out over the weekend due to rain and also a water main burst. As far as I can tell, some part cutting off Lake Elsinore to SJC, and also cutting off Hemet and Idyllwild area.
I heard repairs would be a week. So hopefully things will be dryed up and repaired by the 21st.

I'm still determined to get this ride in ASAP !!

Ortega is fine now. I drive it everyday including this morning. Was raining but stopped now. Supposed to get more rain this afternoon but clear by the weekend so the road should be fine. There are some spots with dirt on the road but nothing serious.

 

Do mean between SJC and Elsinore? I saw on the news that East of Elsinore will be closed for a week.

 

Yes, OC to Elsinore is fine. East is closed but there are plenty of alternate routes that way.

 

If the 74 is still closed, at Hemet we could turn down R3 to the 79.


So who on this board thinks they may be in for this ride on the 21st? Maybe still too early to ask, but just to get an idea of possible meeting spots.

The 21st is the only day I can make it. I'll be coming back from Vegas on the 20th (in car).

My BIL can't make it, but another riding bud of mine is planning on it and maybe a friend of his.

I think we'll leave HB area about 8am. Skidrow may join from HB? So maybe 4 of us coming from HB area. Then might meet Mr Lucky at start of Ortega hwy.

I'm thinking we can meet anyone else at the other end of Ortega. There's a bar I always see bikes outside, just this side of the lake on Grand. I've never stopped there and I don't know the name of it. Guess we would be there about 9:30 ??

 

I'm still game. I'm over by Huntington Harbor but I can meet up with you guys anywhere.
