Default Tijuana Toy Run w/over 5000 Bikers!!!!

The dates are Dec 12-13th. The ride is on the 13th, but there is some sort of festivity on the 12th @ Sweetwater HD. The procession on the 13th leaves from Sweetwater HD, with police escort, along with TV coverage. Last year there were over 5000 bikes. You'll need a passport to go across the border, but most riders are going to a designated palce near the border to drop off their toy. http://www.tijuanatoyrun.com/

Have been on this ride a couple times. Once you cross the boarder you meet up with many Mexican clubs, with some rather interesting bikes, and you're excorted thru TJ ending up on Avenida Revolucion for a kick'n party.

Don't forget to take pockets full of hard candy to toss out to the kids along the route.

Revolucion

My Kawasaki and my pop on Revolucion

Good luck getting back into the US !!

BTW, you are on your own getting back to the US.
no escort.
the first year we went we had a female freelance writer ,who was covering the ride, follow us back because she was alone.

Thumbs down

No way no how do I cross that border with or without a bike. Passport will be the least of your problems.

A group of friends went down there a few weeks ago.
Raped, robbed and beatened by "cops".

Are you serious or just blowin' smoke?... I know things can get shady in that town, and I know folks who are Mexican living here have even had the police abuse their power... but if a group as large as 5000 goes across, it would be tough to be singled-out and raped, tortured, gold teeth pulled out, get your pinky finger twisted backwards so you can't ride back home and be left for dead by the federalis.

There better be at least four federalis against me alone for them to win, let me tell ya.

The last time I was down there. I was with two friends and we were chased by a group of thugs with knives. Three of us and about twenty of them. And this was right off Revolution.
I know there has never been a problem with the toy runs but then again there has been more killings then ever before in the last year. I know two people that were kidnapped and came close to losing there life. And I have friends that have lost loved ones down there all within the past year. I will not ever go down there again myself.
