ATTENTION OREGON RIDERS!! Pass the word
July 14th 2009, there will be a replica of the Viet Nam Vets Memorial wall coming to Timber Linn Park in Albany Oregon. It is a smaller version of the Wall that is in Washington D.C, will be leaving the Clark County Fair Grounds in Washinton State at approx 10:00 on the morning of July 14th to start its journey to the Timber Linn Park in Albany Oregon. It will be escorted by motorcyle riders. They will be coming down I-5 and arrive in Albany around 12noon, or 12:30. So, if you can make it, come on down, blend into the escort, i'm sure they won't mine. Fly an American flag on your bike to show your support. The more bikes/flags, the better. Tell your friends, I"m sure this will be a week to remember. The Wall will remain at Timber Linn Park until the 19th of July I believe it is. See you there.

For what it's worth "The Wall" was just in Ohio a few weeks ago. I wasn't gonna go on the escort ride but the wife took a half day off work and talked me into taking her. I gotta say, aside from the PGR escorts, it was one of the most rewarding things I have been able to do on the bike. People stopped on the side of the road and stood in the rain out of respect...mothers brought their small children outside to wave flags...little old men stood at attention and saluted in their front yards as we escorted the procession through the small towns and villiages. Looking back on it now I wouldn't miss it for the world. By all means, if you can swing it, burn a day of vacation and GO. You'll be all the better for it.

The Wall was in Palm Bay, Florida several months ago. We both (boss lady and myself) enjoy the escort ride to support the fallen heroes. Our escort was approx. 20 miles long, non-stop.
Totally agree what aces~n~eights said about the people on the side of the road.
Was unable to get the tee-shirt this year because the shirts were all sold out.

Little note on the Viet Nam Memorial Wall escort,[ TODAY] for those of you that didn't make it, i'm sorry, it was quite an experience. I understand if you had to work, those that didn't have to work, too bad you didn't go. Something you would never forget. Next time try to do it, you won't be sorry. From what i was told by one of the orginizers, they ended up with 800+ bikes, not bad for a first time, and, they are going to try to make it an annual event. I'll keep you posted.
