Default Angeles Crest Hwy. 2 ?

Is Angeles Crest a good ride, or full of traffic and squids? We're thinking of that for this weekend. Appreciate the input

have not done that ride in a while but it was a blast! you will have a healthy mix of bike styles, depends on the day of the week/time of day that you go. yes, the sport bikes will get impatient if they creep up behind you and will overtake you on a single lane, twisty mountain road.

be safe and enjoy!
P.S. My bike just got shipped from York Haven, PA this morning and hope to take it for a spin on Ortega Highway sometime in mid-March. Heard a lot about Palomar Mountain also but have not personally been on it.

Not sure about the road conditions, but the 2 does not go all the way through to Wrightwood. Road is closed a few miles west of Big Pines.

Thanks for that info. I guess I'll look at an alternate route.

Nice riding up there. You can take Angeles Crest, left at Upper Big Tujunga, right on Angeles Forest, right on Mt Emma to Palmdale. But the snow level was very low a few weeks back, if that's still melting it can turn to ice on the roads at night and still be ice in the morning. Hit it a few times in a car on my way skiing. Would be really big trouble on a bike.

this time of year may not be the best. there is also a lot of debris on the roads from rock slides and cars coming back from the snow. on weekends, there are a lot of bikes, but newcombs ranch has some good food and the canyons are sweet. i start riding up there around late march. be careful and have fun.
