RE: Hey Washington/Oregon Folk
You have lots of really good ideas if the timing works for you. +1 that Oregon's coast line 101 is very congested. If you get in a jam for time you could take I-5 from Vancouver to Grants Pass Or and then take 199 over to the coast at Crescent City. I-5 on that stretch is actually quite scenic. That way you'd catch all of the redwoods, and Calif's 101 is much better than Oregon's in that much of it is 4 lane. It's going to take a lot of hours to go down Calif on the coast from San Fran \\;on down \\;so be prepared.
 \\;
Hwy 1 N of San Fran is twisty so plan extra time. S. of San Fran I don't like to ride it due to congestion. Heck, I'm not crazy about 101 there either until I get S. of Salinas.
 \\;
I wouldn't try a side trip into Napa valley for the wine country unless you're way ahead of schedule. The roads and traffic in there are a nightmare if you don't know your way around. It's very confusing and very congested. I think the roads were planned by a 2 year old with a crayon, lmao.
 \\;
Have a blast. \\;

Well guys I am back.
I met up with Y2k in Washington and we shared a picher. Had a great conversation with him.
 \\;
We stuck to the route Dean laid out and saw a lot of great things.
 \\;
We tented it on the way back down the coast, which was quite interesting.

Actually we did not see the sun for a couple of days. Overcast and windy for most of the Oregon coast but still beautiful sites. We had a close encounter with a deer on Highway 4. Kind of weird because it was at an intersection where I had just turned left from a signal Light. He ran a long side us and I could have reached out and smacked him on the rear. I was at a slow speed and realized he could decide to cross my pat at any time. I stopped and she went over the guard rail. Didnt have the camera out to get a picture.
