anyone know anything about highway 126?

 

What do you need to know? It's freeway through Santa Paula then it's mostly 4 lane highway with at least one town (Fillmore)that has a couple of lights.Nice travel roadsaves time to Valencia over other choices.

 

anything beautiful on that road, is it a fun ride?

 

I used to take that road a lot going to a shooting range near lake piru. It used to be known back then as one of the most dangerous highways in CA when it was just one lane mostly in each direction with a few passing lanes thrown in. Now it is safe because it is 2 lanes in each direction and gets wider near Ventura I think. It's like a freeway almost. A lot of farm land. Not the most scenic but there are twistys off of it like the 150 n to Ojai and 23 s to Simi Valley.

 

I would saya nice alternative to the freeways farther south and a pretty ride but not particularly scenic or "fun".

If your coming south from the 101 you could take the 150 to the 126 which will take you through Ojaib (out of Ventura it's the 33 to the 150 to the 126). That road has some good twisties.

 

126is in my back yard. Early morning Saturday or Sunday, very little traffic and aslow puttabout 40-50ish toFillmore enjoy the sun coming over and up hitting the mountains to the North (spectacular site) , stop at a biker friendly spot Marias Kitchen cafe(1 block N of the 126 and main ??? by the train depot) great service and food. Continue slow ride on throughSanta Paula towards Ventura (stop if you like) or move on picking up the pace on the 101 to Carpenteria (TR mainstreet exit)taketo 192 TRto 150 TL around Lake Casitas through Ojai to Santa Paula on the 126. About 4-6 hours and I am chilled and recharged. I saw maybe5 cars in 2 hours that I waved by on 192 or 150. 30-50 mph top speed puttin except for 101. good time slow ride, enjoying the sights.

I just rolled in that area. Like others said 126 is a decent road, and you use it get to other places without hitting the freeway. I came south and west from Lockwood valley via 33 and 150. Saw lots of fire damage, firefighters doing damage control but otherwise it was a great ride.
