Default Bridge Run or Run for Fun in Az.

Anyone going to the Bridge Run in Lake Havasu, or the Run for Fun in Laughlin? Wife and I are going to both.

A buddy and myself are doing the Laughlin run. I booked the hotel a few weeks ago. Should be fun to get out of town. Going to take R66 once we get to Barstow. I'll look for the spiked helmet......

That ride out 66 is fun, a couple of places the road leaves a little to be desired, a shame California is letting it go to hell. We are going out a couple of days early, we have a house in Bullhead City.

When was the last time you ran route 66 between Barstow to Laughlin? I heard there is one spot that is barracaded with a detour but those in the know can ride around the detour and keep going on the closed portion...is that true?
Thanks.

We have done it a couple of times. The detour is at the Marine base. You have to jump onto I-40 for a few miles. Route 66 was 'realigned' a couple of times. If you try to pull it up on any map site usually it will tell you it isn't there. Try National Trails Hwy. I think the next detour is around Essex or Gofs. Auto Club has a good map of 66

When you have some time, take 66 from Laughlin through Oatman and to the Grand Canyon. Great ride, about 250 miles give or take.

You know you can pick up 66 in Victorville. Take hwy 138 to Hwy 18. Just after you cross I-15 Route 66 is old Main St. through Victorville.

yeah, that is also National Trails Hwy, I believe. Runs through Helendale, Oro Grande and comes up on the backside of Barstow, correct?

Yes it does. Lots of 'ghost towns' along the way. In most cases you can see I-40 from Rt 66. Enjoy the ride, it will take an hour or so longer than I-40, but well worth the time.
