Salmon, Idaho
After going thru Glacier in Montana and stopping near Kalispell or some place in that area, I'm planning on heading to Salmon for a few day's before heading to Alpine, Wyoming. Any recommendations on lodging or sites to see while staying in Salmon? It looks like a good spot to hang out for a few days.
Thanks

Most of the places to go are on gravel roads around the valley. Not really bad for bikes, but they are gravel. Also not much for gas stations close together after you leave the highway.
When you leave there for Alpine take 93 towards Challis then down to Arco then Idaho falls & out towards Jackson Hole then on to Alpine. All 2 lane roads. 50+ miles of river roads.
Have a safe & pleasurable trip!

Thanks sloufoot. Yep, that's the route I was planning on using, not to many other choices! I may go directly to Alpine instead of 31/22 to Jackson, I'm staying in Alpine for 3-4 days (Wy state HOG rally) so I have plenty of time to enjoy the area. If Salmon is a quite town that's ok, I'll do laundry and have a beer! I'm doing a 3 week solo to hang out in Mt, Id, Wy.
Think Spring.

I might see you there. I plan to do the rally also. I don't know if I'll do the whole thing, but I'll be there for a little.
Salmon usually wakes up Friday & Saturday nite. There is always some nite life almost all week long, but if they have something going on in town the bars will be packed. Rednecks galore !
I don't know exactly how it is now, while I lived there the California's finest tried to buy the whole valley then make it just like the California they just left.
The latest invasion I guess was Texas. Pretty much the same thing again. But Salmon is a resilient bunch. I don't know any of the cops there anymore, probably get locked up if I tried the stuff we used to get away with in the past. It was a great town to grow up in, but hard to keep a job.

Well sloufoot, after thinking about your comments and looking at the map(paper). I've decided that after staying in Seeley Lake, Mt. I'm going to Mackay, Id. for a couple days. Then I can have a day ride doing 75, 20/26 back to 93. Looks like nice route and thanks for the response. Hope you can make it to Alpine, With a rig like yours, I'll keep an eye out for ya.
