Mac, you being a person that likes to buy big toys and all and then you don't like to spend money on them[sm=dontgetit.gif]
Do you scimp on your vette??
Order the Harley filters on line and get a 20% off of them.
Plan a head a little

Mark,

Interesting point...I guess what I'm saying is that I'm not convinced that the HD filters are the best...though at nearly double the cost, they should be.

I DO NOT run strictly GM products on the vette, in fact, quite the opposite...the AC Delco filter is second choice...

WARNING: All filters are not created equal even though they fit. Differences in bypass spring pressure and filter media could result in damage to your engine.
While it is advised to use the proper HD filter for your engine for proper filtration, here is a cross reference if you can't get a genuine part.

Skip, I received my Total Performance Engineering Smart Pump in yesterday and plan on installing it as soon as I get some "SAE J1019 3/8" 400psi WP Hose and Clamps"... What do you think? Should I stick with the 40 micron or go down to the 10 micron filter?
The only bad part is the pump comes in a high polished aluminum....
You can paint the aluminum wrinkle black and get 50% better heat dissipation whenever Jupiter is aligned with Uranus.

I'd use the 10 micron filter. I went searching last night for some more info on the bypass problem and couldn't find any test results on the possible problem. So I went looking for UOAs on Twinkie engines, and it doesn't appear that there is the expected increase in wear particles bypassing would cause. These UOAs were generally in the 2500 - 3000 mile range, so I wouldn't go any longer than that on the oil changes.
