I'm having issues with oil levels in my wife's 883. When cold, the oil level doesn't even register on the dipstick. When engine is hot, oil level is almost to overflow in oil pot. I'm guessing I have a plug up somewhere and oil isn't draining back, and concerns that the engine isn't getting lubrication. Need trouble shooting advice and where the problem is.

My wife's '05 Sporty would do the same thing. What happens is the oil leaks past a check valve in the oil pump. Nothing in the tank when cold, but the level came back after a few minutes of running. You may have too much oil in the tank if its almost overflowing, out the tank when it's hot.,,

 

Is this normal? becoz I'm having the same situation here. Should I check the oil level by levelling my bike or just side stand will do fine?
