Default old oil in bike

Hi all...new here... Just purchased a 2004 super glide with less than 10,000 miles on it last serviced at 5,000..in 2006..... Oil on dipstick is very thick , black, and sticky... I am thinking draining and putting a less expensive oil in running a few miles and changing again to maybe red line ..any suggestions ??

I wouldn't use a cheap oil, but agree with running fresh oil through to flush out the old black stuff. You won't save much by buying two lots of different oil, but you may save a bit buying in bulk. Also change the filter after each oil change.

You can get some 20W50 Valvoline MC oil for about 4-5 bucks a qt.
