Mobil One change
I just changec the oil in my Ultra to Mobil 1 V-twin, and boy am I pleased. I had used the V-twin oil in my Shadow 1100 for a while, and didn't see any real benefit in that bike. I guess the water cooled engine just didn't need it. That just isn't the case with the Ultra. The bike ran smoother and quiter today, and my mileage went from 40 to 45 mpg. I hope the mileage stays this way and is not a fluke. The fuel savings alone will pay for the added expense of the oil. I had the HD Syn3 in it, and I was not impressed to say the least.[:'(]

Mark, do you think I should send in my testimonial along with a resume? Momma is always watching the gas needle and the mileage, as I use the trip meter to remind me when I'm getting close. We started with a full tank (minus 2.8 mi from the station to home) and went 182 miles before we fueled up again, and it took only 3.9 gallons. Actually that's 46 mpg! I used to fill at around 175 and it would take around 4.2 gallons. That figures out to about 42 mpg. Sometimes I wouldn't get that good of mileage. I'm hooked on Mobil 1 now. It seems that it is made for these engines, and almost wasted on water cooled engines.
Thanks to all who have posted about their experience with Mobil 1 V-twin. I'm back with it and happy as a pig in a new mud puddle.[8D]

Mark, me and momma just got back from a hot 200 mile ride. I thought for a while that I was going to get sick from the heat. At least now I'm back inside with the A/C kicking and the ceiling fan humming. Mileage today was almost 43mpg, but we were in a good bit of stop & go traffic. The bike still ran much qieter and probably much cooler too.
Rhinovans, yes hurry and ditch the dino for the new improved stuff. You'll be happy you did!

Wolf, I can usually find the Mobil 1 at AutoZone for $7.99 a quart. I did talk to the people at wal-Mart and they will get it for you @ around $7 a quart. It's a little pricey compared to the dino oil, but worth the added expense. Some here even use the Mobil red top in 15W-50 with good results. It's also full synthetic, but not motorcycle specific.
Talk to the auto service manager at your local Wal-Mart. They will get it for you. I got them to do it here, but check with after a couple of weeks to see if they have it in. My store didn't put it on the shelves, and when I asked about it, they had it in the back for two weeks.

Thanks Papamte. Worst case, I could buy it in your town...only 125 miles from my pad.
