New s&s 103" shovel head. The manual doesnt suggest what type or model of oil filter to use. I bought one from the auto part store but dont think its for a bike. Having low pressure problem and trying to eliminate all possibilities.

Any suggestions?

 

Is this a first start up of the engine?
Did you prime the oil pump?

The oil filter is not going to cause a low oil pressure issue, because it is in the scavenge circuit.

Both of these filters are specifically made for Harley Evo and Shovelhead:

Harley 63805-80A
Wix 51215

 

Don't buy filters unless they are designated for your bike! A Harley dealer is the easiest source and you cannot save much by looking around. I have an S&S 107" Evo and use stock Harley Evo filters. You can of course email S&S for clarification, they are usually quick to reply in my experience.
