Is there any problem with switching back and forth between Amsoil and HD synthetic engine oil? I've got a Dyna with 10,000 miles which has always used HD synthetic. I usually change the oil myself and would like to switch to Amsoil because I've heard it's superior. Now and then, however, my HD dealer runs such great specials that I'll let him change the oil and, obviously, he'll put HD synthetic into it. Is there any problem with this?

 

No problems at all.

 

Before I entered the motorcycle field I worked for a company that owned several automotive oil change facilities. In my experience it is not a problem to change between brands. Most important thing is to change the oil routinely at reasonable intervals. The HD dealership I worked for recommended 5K for oil changes and 10K for Transmission and Primary intervals when using synthetic. Here at Skip's we do have customers that still like to change the oil every 3K.
