Default More geek talk call to Pennzoil

I called Pennzoil today, Shell Corp., to talk about the 20w50 yellow bottle. This guy was super cool. Knew about Harley Davidson motorcycles and the way they are setup with the clutch being separate the trams and engine.

He said that the 20w50 is good to use. He was in Houston, and said that the guys with HD's, Vic's, Ducatti and others in the motorcycle test labs use......wait for it..... Rotella 15w40. Yes, even in the hot south Texas heat. They say there isn't any reason not to be it air cooled, oil cooled, or water cooled. That the heads might get hot as hell, but the way the new twins are designed the oil rarely reaches 250, and that is when sitting.
He swore that the motorcycle guys lived by Rotella 15W40, and would use nothing else. He did say that if I wanted to use the 20W50 yellow bottle that it would be a good oil also, just like any oil, I should be diligent with OCI.

Just thought I'd pass along some of my discussions with oil techs instead of reading and quoting the experts from motorcycle forums. I figure why not call and find out what the manufacturer's say.

He also stated why the Rotella guy would not recommend it was because of legal, but the guy today had been there over 30 years, and he didn't mind going in a round about way to let me know the truth despite legal.

I would also like to mention that he spoke of Pennzoil MC oil, and how they discontinued it because it never sold. Why? I asked. He said because it was the same thing as the other Pennzoil before Pennzoil started adding detergents that would make clutch plates slip. Imagine that, just a sticker on the bottle.

I don't know but since the election cycle is over. I have noticed, and talked with a lot of people who have been openly honest, and very helpful. On a different topic. The heater repair guy walked me through the trouble shooting steps to fix my heater, and then told me to go to Amazon to buy the part for $17 versus the $99 from his truck. Go figure. Or the lady at Verizon who was super cool when I told her that I needed another week or two to catch up with my bill.
I am just hoping and praying that the people in the US have noticed that the only way we are going to survive is to help each other. At least the honest people. Anyway that is another topic.
