Default trans. oil

Round and round it goes...
Im a newby to Harley but here is my 2 cents.
The Harley trans. is one of the few left that is seperate from the engine and uses a different lubrication oil than the engine. That being said ., i would accept the premise that its basic design has not changed for many years and
is still the rugged old style type of trans. that Harley has used for many years.
This means that the oil required would be of the older style also. 75/90 weight. The only difference now is synthetic verses dino.?
Have seen many complaints about metal fuzzing to magnetic with use of synthetics ., this is common with synthetics as they are usually used in the motor only. I would suggest that a non synthetic 75/90 standard gear oil be used in the Harley trans. as i believe that is what the original application was called for.? I also suspect that the original Harley spec. trans. oil is simple
75/90 dino.?

Default Redline shockproof question

Hey Everyone,
I'm ready for my 1000 mile service and I have a question about the Redline Shockproof oil.
I noticed there are 2 types of Shockproof

Shockproof Heavy: which I believe is what everyone is running

Then I noticed there is a : Redline V-twin Transmission Shockproof Oil

Are these the same type of oil . I just want to make sure I get the proper oil
for my ride

Thanks,
Dave

I think its your call but for me it has been syn 3. How long you plan on keeping the bike and where you will be riding are factors to be considered. I like to be able to pull into any HD shop and pull out with new oil. The bike has 89000 miles on it and after some 1000 miles of riding I will be getting it in for service so it's ready for August. It seems I have around 8000 miles of road calling my name again.

I got it directly from Redline- there's no difference between the two. Same oil, different bottle.
