i use farm rated gear oil and it's less that $2 a quart. if it's good enough to go into a $100,000 farm tractor it's good enough for my hog.

farm rated is what it says on the label. all it is,is your every day ordinary gear oil. it's 85w-140 api services gl-5 gear lube. military specification performance level. mack go-j performance level.i'm in wisconsin and i get it at my local fleet farm store. i have no affiliation with this store i just shop there alot. i think the last qt. i bought was $1.79 plus tax.

Bagga: If it's GL-5, 85-140 you are more than covered....same as Bel-Ray Gear saver which is dino blend 85-140 GL-5 and stocked by many many HD dealers....damn now I'm jealous for that price.............
Oh Steve???....what does Amsoil got to beat the "farm rated" for$1.79???

www.fleetfarm.com click on weekly ad for their sale items. if you have tractor supply co. near you it's basically the same thing.

Those farm supply stores have a lot of "adaptables" that make their way onto bikes! I get a lot of stainless hardware from 'em, small lengths of flatbar, tubing for non-critical spacers, bronze bushings, and used to buy my chain from 'em. If you're a do-it-yourself type, check 'em out.
