Low on Oil

Low on Oil
I'm a long way from a Harley shop and I am a little low on oil on my road trip, I always have my oil in my 88B Twin Cam changed at Harley with the best oil { synthetic} What grade and brand oil should I buy at a parts house to use until; I reach a shop?

If I remember correctly the manual says any diesel rated oil will suffice....Rotella in synthetic and conventional will work but there are others.

It's probably 15w-40. Most parts joints carry some kinda synthetic 15w-50 or 20w-50. Shoot, as far as that goes any 20w-50, synthetic or dino, will do just fine. And in a pinch, a quart of 0W-20 is better than running too low! Now, how low is a "little low"?
